I like the colored and inked versions, but the simplicity of the pencil sketch is sadder somehow. Mainly in the eye, I think. He's a bit more grumpy now. Inked in Flash, in case you were curious.
I do agree with you that his expression seems to have changed (ever so slightly) from the original to the finished piece. In the inked version he looks resentful, as if he was just made fun of, and he's huddled in a corner glaring at the bully's.
Great stuff, as usual. Your characters are wonderful original.
Hey Bob-- Thanks for checking out my blog! I think your work is just great. I found your blog through Chris Houghton, and I always enjoy your posts. You have such a neat style!
That's funny you noticed that, Kassandra! I definitely had something a bit sadder in mind when I started. You can make out a trace ear that I had in there at one point but edited it out.
In the finished piece, he looks almost angry, like he's watching someone eat a big, juicy double bacon cheeseburger from Jack In The Box while his hungry ribs are poking through his green skin...

Your inking in Flash is amazing Bob.

...oh, and I like how you've shown the three stages, from initial pencil sketch to final piece.
I WAS wondering! GREAT drawing Bob!

Thanks x3! Glad you like him...maybe he'll have better days ahead of him.
that's awesome
Awe in the pencil sketch you can still see a tear that had been erased. Great flash inking!

I'd be angry, too. Great work, Bob!
Hi, Bob! New blog design, isn't it? It's great. And are you posting more drawings than usual, or it's my imagination=?
Anyway, greetings from the other side of the ocean!
I forgot: I'm following you on twitter! I'm @perroprofeta but you don't have to follow me back if you can't read spanish :-)
