Green Strut

I hadn't done a walk cycle in awhile, so I thought I'd bring my little green guy to life. This is a 10 frame cycle (at 15 fps). I'm planning to switch into animation mode soon, and a walk cycle is a perfect short exercise.

How did you first learn to do walk cycles?

Hi Toby! I'm actually pretty sloppy and very much a novice when it comes to walk cycles. I've had to do a handful of them in the few animations I've created. I almost always need to refer to a walk cycle guide in an animation book (like The Animator's Workbook or The Animator's Survival Kit). That helps you understand the breakdown of drawings you need. They can be hard but always rewarding when you get it working. Hope that helps!
