Thanks Matt and Renee! When I was thinking of a title for my post, "The Creature from the Sad Lagoon" somehow escaped me. Nice!
I find that as soon as my cartoons approach a certain realism, I can't always get away with 3 fingers. The odd thing is that I drew these hands using my cartoon understanding of how fingers and hands work---not referencing my own hands. That fourth finger always feels like an extra, though.
It can be risky to try to blend the worlds of cartooning and true anatomy. Part of my wonders what this drawing would've looked like if it were more cartoony.

Man this is great! I really like how the more realistic look blends in with your awesome cartooning style. This would make a killer toy!
